THE ARTIFICIAL KIDNEY UNIT
It is located on the first basement floor of the hospital, next to the Blood Donation and Diabetes Clinic. Access is via the external entrance of the MTN, for which there is signage. The MTN is directly connected to the rest of the hospital.
MTN has the following facilities:
- External waiting room for patients and their companions
- External toilets
- Examination room – office. In this area, outpatient surgeries are carried out, wounds are changed, and new catheters, grafts-fistulas of MTN patients are cared for
- Director’s office
- Doctors’ office
- Supervisor’s office
- Warehouse of unclean materials e.g. sheets, infectious materials
- Warehouse of MTN material (filters, lines, solutions, etc.)
- Food office, which temporarily functions as a warehouse
- Internal toilet for men and women
- Hospitalization area, where pharmaceutical material is located and the preparation of medications administered to patients is carried out
- Two isolation rooms: one accepts patients with hepatitis B and the other patients with infectious diseases such as MRSA, pseudomonas, gangrene and others. The isolation rooms have a bell, which alerts the nurse
- The two main dialysis rooms, with 8 beds in one room and 7 beds in the other. In the middle of the two rooms, there is the nurses’ area that supervises the patients
In total, MTN has 17 dialysis machines.
